Boat schedule 2026
Borea Adventures offers a daily boat service to Hornstrandir Nature Reserve during the summer months. We operate two boats that are both seaworthy and built for a pleasurable journey. Schedule your trip.
If you are booking a return trip, please see the departure times in the booking calendar or on your ticket.
EXTRAS:
Please note that we charge for extra luggage. Normal luggage is considered to be one backpack per person, including camping gear, roughly around 20kg. If travelling for an extended period of time and travelling with for example: kayaking gear, heavy photography equipment etc, we charge ISK 5000 for each extra bag. Travelling with a dog is ISK 5000.
PLEASE NOTE!
Our boats LEAVE Ísafjörður harbour on the times in the table above. We can not tell you the exact pickup time if you’re booking a return trip, because that depends on how many destinations the boat is going to on that particular day, weather conditions, amount of luggage etc. Please be at the docks 20 minutes before departure.
These prices are ONE WAY. The price is the same price for pick up or drop off. Feel free to ask our staff for pickup times from your designated destination.
If a boat is chartered it can wait for you at your destination or pick up location. Please email us for the charter prices to different locations.
Children up to 4 years old travel for free. 50% discount for children between 4 to 12 years old.
Please contact us if you need to charter the boat for groups or don’t find a boat ride that suits your itinerary.
Grunnavík and Aðalvík on request
It’s only 30 minute boat ride to Grunnavík Bay, the perfect starting point for hiking on the South side of Jökulfirðir. There is a service in Sútarabúðir where you can get simple accommodation and refreshments.
For Aðalvík, please note that our boats drop and pick up in Sæból in Aðalvík, any requests to Látrar must be via email.
Return to Ísafjörður
We can not tell you the exact pickup time for the afternoon return trip to Ísafjörður, as that depends on how many destinations the boat is going on that particular day, weather conditions, amount of luggage etc. The pick up in Hornstrandír can therefore be up to an hour after the stated time on your ticket, but don’t worry, we’re coming for you! If you see our guides, feel free to ask them for estimated pickup times from your destination.
Our Boats
SIF is our bigger vessel built in Norway in 1986. She was totally refitted in 2016 with new seats, engines and bridge and she’s a very seaworthy boat that can take you to any destination comfortably.

ÍRIS is our newest vessel built in 1983 in Norway. She was refitted in 2024 for our Borea needs with extended balcony for more outside area, new navigational equipment and new engines. We use Íris for charter trips and our whale watching tours.
