Who can say they’ve ice climbed Dynjandi for the challenge and also used that same skill to rescue a missing dog from the icy tops of the surrounding mountains here in Ísafjörður.

Personable and calming, Regína will ease your concerns that may arise. Consistently making life better for travellers and guides alike, you can’t put value on human kindness. Whether it’s a problem-solving email, or the plants that brighten up the office when you first step into our cozy space. She’s up for a chat, but the question is, are you? Oh yeah, and that problem you had…not so impossible huh?

Captain of our beautiful vessel Sif. Believes that life is better on a boat so will keep us safe and sound while we motor the fjords and pass the most Northern lighthouse in Iceland. He never get’s tired of the sea, his free time he spends exploring the world on his sailboat. Loves a good prank, but don’t worry his target is always the guides.

Born and raised in Finland, Joonas found his way to Iceland for his master’s degree in coastal and marine management. He’s been with us for many seasons and was the driving force in making the sauna in Kviar Lodge as you can imagine. Joonas has found the perfect balance by spending the long summer days in Iceland and the winter in Saudi Arabia where he works as a research diver. As a true Finn, Joonas is an avid knitter, and you can find him on social media under @knitting_man

From Michigan US, Justin first came to Ísafjörður in 2017 completing a masters at the University Center of the Westfjords. He fell in love with the place, created the first provincial whale sighting catalogue and has since bought an apartment in town with his girlfriend Michelle. He is an avid hiker and diver, but you can also find him at the local brewery sharing beers with his friends.

Our Alpine ‘Bird’ as she sometimes goes by, flies home to Iceland in the summer as much of our wildlife. Luckily for you she’s back to guide you straight to them. Conservationist at heart, Birte spent a summer in Hornstrandir researching Arctic foxes. Her focus was their poop, and she has the puns to keep you laughing. Hailing from nearby Bolungarvík, Oli’s helpful charm and ‘let’s go’ attitude is energising. He may be one of our youngest guides but takes the profession seriously by pursuing professional guiding training at Mountaineering School of FAS. Loves Iceland, loves guiding.

Transatlantic experience leading outdoor expeditions exposes you to all sorts of situations. Brendan has the professionalism and craftsmanship to build adventures on great memories. Legend says that he arrived from Alaska by mushing dogs across the Arctic…believable.

Our Canadian outdoorsman is a jack of all trades as you may see him hiking, kayaking and cycling all in one day! His calming personality matches the serene beauty of the area and will be an attractant for bird songs. Luckily for you, his deep ornithological knowledge will identify and turn you bird curious!
